ABOUT ME

I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist and I am in the final stages of completing my doctoral training in psychology.

I am trained in a number of therapeutic approaches and work integratively, adapting how we work to your specific and unique needs. The basis of my training is existential-phenomenological therapy. I also offer EMDR and have extensive experience of working with trauma and severe distress.

I have many years of experience in the NHS, working with many different forms of distress. I currently work in Community Mental Health as a Principal Counselling Psychologist on a preceptorship. I have also worked in university counselling services and with the Survivors Network (Rape Crisis).

I take a completely non-pathologising approach to therapy. I understand distress and difficulties as reasonable and understandable responses to challenging life circumstances.

Before retraining in psychology and psychotherapy, I had a fifteen-year career in the tech industry, including senior leadership roles, so I am well placed to work with people in highly demanding careers, as well as those experiencing stress or burnout, or considering a career change.

My doctoral research explores the practice of psilocybin-assisted therapy, and my wider clinical and academic interests include trauma, psychedelic therapy, altered states, anomalous and unusual experiences, meaning construction, phenomenology, and the social, political and relational contexts of psychological distress.
